Term 4 summary

In Term four we have been focusing on Culture City, athletics, kapa haka and Rosie and I were doing an play called the Chronicles of Narnia. I found this term very fun but it's also my best friends last term. So it's quite sad.
In athletics I came 1st in 100 m sprint 1st, 200m sprint 1st, Long jump 2ed, Ball through and 1st in high jump. That made me go to the interschools. There i came 2 in the heats and 5th in the final. I have know idea what I came in long jump. But I did get in the newspaper.

While I was performing the Chronicles of Narnia the routine was
1. get into costume
2. do face paint
3. do hair
4. watch the performance
5. perform
6. go out to the crowd and show them our costumes

During the term on every morning we would have a Just Dance to a soccer song, fighting song or normal dancing. We did furniture olympics which is when you are in a group and you need to make something together but you have to be touching each other.

In conclusion I have had an AMAZING term. next year I am looking forward to camp because we get to go to Splash Planet and stay at the aquarium.

Kapa Haka 2019

Kapa Haka 2019

On the 20th of November 2019 Wainui beach school had their kapa haka festival. I peered through the audience as we were in the stage wing, waiting to start performing. We all started walking up, that made me proud to be at wainui. As our kaea Hunter started singing our school song, I spotted my parents. Before you know it we all started singing . When we finished, the boys went to their spots. We all came together to sing Haramai a Paoa, our second song.

We all went to our spots, put our hands on our hips and started singing our action song Kapi Oh Oh. I saw mum taking a video of me and koka niarge taking a video of the entire thing. As that song finished all the girls did their poe to Pure Ane. The first two rows went on their knees, while the others stood up and the boys were singing and doing some actions. After that we sang Utina and went into a translation for the boys to do the haka.

The boys hakas where our school haka and the all blacks haka. As the boys where doing this, some of the girls were singing to it. After that we all sang Wainui E wich translated us together. I was by Bay, Seve and in front of me was Sophie. Once we sang that, to end it, and lead everybody off, we sang He Honore ,with the front row last to leave.

This term is school speeches we all have to relate it to HAOUA our school subject. I'm doing on why we should reduce child poverty in New Zealand.

My first point is Maslow Hierarchy Of Needs my second is what the government is doing to help and my third point is what we and our community can do to help. Here is what I have so far I hope you like it. I chose this topic because I wanted to show how lucky you all are to have parents that don't hurt you and are able to go to school.

As we made it to the start line Matua Nick was on the side. He told us that we are doing 2 big laps. I was not ready. "On your marks get set BANG!" With a loud bang we where off.  Naia was in front of me. she said she was amming to come 2nd. As we where coming around a corner her shoe came off! Yes this is my chance. I was Jogging up the road but Kayla was right next to me. "Hi Kayla" I said "hi" she replied. We ran up the sand and dad was there to cheer me on "Go Tillie, remember a sprint at the end" he said " I know" I replied.

We were together for most of the 1st lap then I over took her. For most of the 2nd lap I was way in front of them and 4 boys over took me. As I made it to the finish line I was to puffed to sprint. Everyone was cheering and koka Sophie said to me " Well done Tillie more shine cards for mango" ( blue house ) dad came over and said "Well done hun. Your gonna get a chocolate sundae  tonight.)

Fish in a tree

Moana learning hub are reading a book called fish in a tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. It's about a girl called Ally Nickerson. She has dyslexia and about how she coups with school. She has new friends a  new teacher and enemies.

we all had to create a piece of art that goes with a saying like this- Everyone is smart in different ways but if you judge a fish on it's abilities to climb a tree then it will spend the rest of it's life thinking it's stupid. Do you like?

RETRO TECH

This term our school focus is RETRO TECH. In Moana learner hub in our buzz groups we each had to chose a  number. out of one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine or ten. My buzz group got to chose first. We chose number 2. Avie popped it on the table and we each where amazed of what it was. Koka terri and koka ngaire were taking videos non stop all starting with the sign that said STEP RIGHT UP WHICH BOX WILL YOU CHOSE? For some reason I was scared to see what it was until we saw it. It was one of those hair bresser thing that laddies used in the olden days. That was the first time I have ever seen one! Well I have seen one on movie and all but that was the first time I have seen it in person.

The hair dryer was yellow and white. With clips that keep it together. Once you unclip them the top comes up and it folds up into the hair dryer and in the bottom there's the plug ans the cord. We think it could work!

Last week we went to the museum for a visit and electric city. With amazement electric city was just were the city started and you can just walk in and have a look. I learnt the New Zealand in one of the countries that is lacking in new technologie. But where getting there. Also that in the1800s our mayor went to visit the mayor of America and came back with a car a electric car to be exacted. So New Zealand is getting there and before you know it in 2030 we all will be using electric cars and bikes.(We also got a ride on the electric scooter!)

At the museum we all walked in and sat down on the mat. There was 1980s phones and music players, stuffed birds and segul's. The instructor (Anna) got some phones and let some of us try and figure out how to work them. After that we had a talk about what and how those phones work and iphones work. Also  what they did and what iphones can do how. Once we did that we had a look at a little olden day house. With old radios, kitchens and class's. In the class room there was lots of bird eggs, white boards and pitchers of Queen Victoria. Anna told us that people had to stay still for a minute to be able to take a photo. Some times you had to hold your kids heads so they don't move.
Once we came back we all had a go at writing with quills. (Pens made out of feathers) What we had to do was practice writing our name then get our good copy and write our name there as well as taking a photo of ourselves on a polaroid camera. Finally we came back for the museum and started working at school.
